I’m here for the words! Also, why on earth have I never thought to use fresh grapefruit & soda for a Paloma? 🤦‍♀️ Thank you

Just for the record. I couldn’t care less for recipes. I don’t even drink cocktails. I’m here for stories.

What I hate is when I'm reading an interesting narrative written by somebody who is a talented, professional writer and then - boom! - there is suddenly a recipe section and I have to scroll way back up. I have people to shake my cocktails for me, thank you very much.

Always here for the irreverent words/story. May have to try the 866 only because the caraway flavored aquavit reminds me of both my parents favorite restaurant - Marcus Samuelsson’s old Aquavit when it was his only restaurant and he would be there to greet my parents - and also of my sister’s old dog, a whippet, which is a relative of the greyhound, named Kim, short for Kimmel - named by my grandmother for her caraway colored fur which was translated as Kimmel in the old country. So now you’ve read a story of mine!

The added fun as a European here is in dutifully doing your scrolling only to find the recipe somehow measures butter in 'tablespoons' or 'sticks'. Butter is a)a solid at room temperature and b)cannot be made into a stick shape. And then you have to search 'toddler vegetable muffins recipe EUROPE+ "grams" and go through the whole thing again with some nice wholesome Danish family food blogger telling you about how they diagnosed their child's intolerance to non stick muffin cases etc etc etc

How about "Downward Dog" for the reverse Salty Dog/Grapefruit Cocktail? I know that's awful, but as a dad, I'm contractually obligated to make dad jokes.

Paying Everyday Drinking subscribers cannot be the folks who would have this complaint, at least as it relates to booze articles. We're here for the narrative and the context as we'll only only live long enough to execute a small portion of your voluminous suggestions and recommendations.

As you probably well know, our buddy, François Monti, recently extolled on the pleasures of mixing vermouth and grapefruit. Vive la pamplemousse! Thanks for your several bits on the subject.

I’m old and retired and have plenty of time to scroll ( or read the next chapter of Godforsaken Grapes) while I have my first glass of wine of the day. PS I think ur very funny

Don’t have a good name but just got a case of Winter Sweets grapefruit and was looking for grapefruit cocktails as these babies are hella juicy so this is a timely post.

Have you ever gone to Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland? If you love grapefruit cocktails, highly recommended.

Sad commentary. I love cookbooks and books on cocktails because one gets to read about the author’s philosophies, experience and ideas about the subject. Always get some valuable insights.

Great piece! I have a feeling that if everyone had Jason's writing talent then there would be a lot less complaining about scrolling down to the recipes. Unfortunately, most pre-recipe autobiographies read like a reality TV show script. In those cases, a few complaints might be warranted, haha!

Forget the scrolling comments. Your articles are delightful. You always provide perspective and make me laugh! : ) If someone wants a free recipe in an instant, they can Google that. Please keep writing.
