Today, I’m so excited to unveil Everyday Drinking’s Tasting Circle, which will kick off in February. Starting the week of February 23rd, I will be hosting my inaugural live video tasting event, the first in a monthly series. These tastings will be fun and interactive. I won’t call them “classes” necessarily—they’ll be less formal and way more enjoyable—but you can think of them that way. You’ll likely learn something, even if you taste for your job or are studying for a professional certification. My focus will be on new ways to think about and talk about wine. Sessions will run about an hour, with plenty of time for your questions and spirited conversation.
These new monthly tastings will only be available to readers who upgrade to our new Tasting Circle tier. Click on the link here, or go into your Substack subscription settings and upgrade your subscription to “Tasting Circle” ($150). This price translate to less than $13 for each live tasting session (minus any wine purchases).
Access to our live tastings isn’t the only thing you’ll receive!
• Members will get serious discounts on the bottles we’ll be tasting at the live tasting events, via my partner SocialSomm. Tasting Circle members are sent exclusive links so you can order the wines in advance, to taste along with me. The first live video session will happen the week of February 23rd, and I will send the first discount links in the next few days.
• Tasting Circle members will have access to a private chat to discuss, comment, rant, ask questions, etc.
• Even if you can’t attend a particular tasting live, a video of the event will be sent post to Tasting Circle members only—so you can view or revisit at any time.
• Tasting Circle members will also get one FREE 30-minute, private video meeting or consultation with me. We can talk one-on-one about wine, spirits, travel, business, gossip—or we can do a private group chat with all your wine friends or wine club. (Once you sign up, you can message me to set up date and time.)
• Of course, Tasting Circle members will enjoy all the same access and perks as paid subscribers do, including a digital copy of my book On Wine Drinking As Resistance.

I’ve already tentatively scheduled our first two live Tasting Circle events.
The kickoff event will be the week of February 23rd, and our topic is (perhaps no surprise) “New Spanish Wines.” If you want to get the bottles for this tasting, you’ll need to join and order by February 6th to guarantee delivery.
The second live Tasting Circle event will happen the week of March 23rd, and the topic will be (again, no surprise if you read this newsletter) “Cabernet Franc Around the World.” For this event, you’ll need to order the bottles by March 6th to guarantee delivery.
Over the next few weeks, we will set exact times and dates based on Tasting Circle member’s input and availability.
